Electronic Tablet Use Policy

The Grafton-Midview Public Library offers electronic tablets for in-library use by patrons to familiarize the community with new book formats and technology, to understand how these devices work and to explore their usage for educational and recreational purposes.

Usage Guidelines:

·  Patron must have a current adult Grafton library card with fines under $5.00 and leave a current driver’s license with staff.

·   Staff will inspect tablets prior to and after patron use.  Any changes in condition while in the patron’s care will be the patron’s responsibility.

·   All patrons must read and sign the Electronic Tablet Use Policy prior to each use.

·   Patrons under 18 may use a tablet, but must have a parent/guardian present to supervise usage and to read and sign the Electronic Tablet Use Policy.

·   Library tablets cannot be left unattended and may only be used on the 2nd floor.

·   Usage is limited to 60 minutes and may be extended at patron’s request if there are no reservations.

·   Tablets are preloaded with a selection of apps and public domain books/audiobooks.  Patrons may request installation of specific apps from staff.

·   Replacement costs for damage, loss or theft are the patron’s responsibility and will vary depending on the device.

·   The Patron Access to the Internet Policy applies to Internet use on the Library’s tablets.
