Big Tree Contest Tuesday, May 27, 6 PM Jack Fisher, Stormwater Specialist with the Lorain County Conservation District, will give a presentation on the Big Tree Contest. Lorain County Conservation District is kicking off their 10th annual Lorain County BIG TREE Contest! This contest will promote the beauty and benefits provided by the county’s biggest and oldest trees. This year’s tree is Lorain County’s biggest WHITE PINE (Pinus strobus). Grounded Wellness:Hygge Monday, June 2, 6 PM Join Becca from Grounded Yoga & Wellness for a presentation on hygge, a Danish word for intentional downtime, coziness, and contentment. In this session, you will learn how this concept can be found in a yoga practice, as well as how to apply it to our everyday lives in very simple ways, leading us to more peace and well-being on a daily basis. All About Tomatoes Monday, June 9, 6 PM Lorain County Master Gardener Sue Schillig will talk about choosing the right tomato varieties for your garden, caring for your plants, harvesting and disease and pest management. June is not too late to plant your tomatoes for a late summer crop! Colors of Flowers Thursday, June 19, 6 PM Enjoy a presentation on the Colors of Flowers with Beryl Prusinoski. This program focuses on how flowers adopt all the colors of the spectrum, even some colors that humans can’t see! Expect to hear special stories about the plants along the way. The Science of Mindfulness and Meditation Thursday, July 10, 6 PM An exploration of why we have a negativity bias and a natural pre-disposition to suffer, and how mindfulness meditation enhances the curiosity of lifelong learning.
