You're Invited!
Join us for the Lorain County Reads 2025 Author Visit with Eric Klinenberg on Thursday, September 25, from 6–8 p.m. at the Elyria Performing Arts Center.
This year’s county-wide read is all about the power of shared spaces—like libraries, parks, churches, and schools—and how they help bring people together and build stronger, more connected communities. We’ll dive into how these everyday places can actually help tackle some of society’s biggest challenges.
Admission is FREE, and you can sign up at alpl.org/lorainreads.
Light refreshments will be served!
The event is a collaboration between several Lorain County organizations, including your local libraries, parks, and community groups.
Our featured guest, Eric Klinenberg, is a sociologist and professor at NYU, known for his work on social infrastructure. His book, Palaces for the People: How Social Infrastructure Can Help Fight Inequality, Polarization, and the Decline of Civic Life, looks at how public spaces can make our communities stronger and more resilient, especially in tough times.
You can borrow Palaces for the People from any participating Lorain County library. Want your own copy? Books will be available for purchase at the event or ahead of time at MindFair Books inside the Oberlin Ben Franklin store (13 W. College St., Oberlin, OH).
Don’t miss this chance to be part of an inspiring community conversation!
