2021 Families

GETTING STARTED WITH BEANSTACK:

  • For your desktop, visit the Library's Beanstack URL: gmplibrary.beanstack.org. For your mobile device, download the Beanstack app from your app store and search for Grafton-Midview Public Library. 
  • Select "Register an Individual or Family" and follow the prompts to create your account.
  • The homepage will show you the available reading programs. Choose the one that is right for you. For children ages 3 to 11, choose the Children 2021 Summer Reading & Recreation Challenge. 

2021 FAMILY SUMMER READING & RECREATION CHALLENGE:

For every completed activity, families earn a fun badge and a ticket to put towards a choice of prize! Families that complete all 15 activities together earn even more chances of being a grand prize winner. 


PROGRAMS:

We're offering a wide variety of virtual and in-person programming this summer! All programs require registration unless otherwise noted. Registration for summer programs begins on Monday, May 3. To register for programs, please visit our Events Calendar here. The health and safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority. Masks and social-distancing are required for all in-person programs. 

Family Storytime 

Tuesdays, June - July, 10:00 - 10:45 am via Zoom

Join us Tuesday mornings via Zoom for a virtual storytime. Explore the mystery box, sing songs, and enjoy great stories from the comfort of your home.

Music and Movement

Thursdays, June - July, 10:00 - 10:30 am

Toddlers and high energy preschoolers will love this program! Learn your letters, explore numbers, and interact with a great story while you move to the music. 

Goat Yoga

Friday, June 6, 6:00 - 7:00 pm at the Old Grafton School 

Join our friends from Gaga for Goats and Grounded Yoga & Wellness, LLC for a unique, interactive experience! Goat yoga combines the relaxation and fitness of a yoga class with adorable baby goats. All ages and abilities welcome. Please bring a yoga mat or towel.

Explore titles from Own Voices authors. June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month and we're reading Spin with Me by Ami Polonsky. We're having a virtual author visit with Polonsky.

Explore titles from Own Voices authors. Our book for July is A Place at the Table by Saadia Faruqi and Laura Shovan. We're having a virtual author visit with Faruqi and Shovan.

Splatter Paint

Saturday, July 10, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Get in touch with your inner Jackson Pollack and try splatter painting. Make sure to dress for a mess!

Cirque du Papier

Thursday, July 22, 1:00 - 2:00 pm

With dexterity, quick wit, and knowledge of origami, Michael Roy Baldridge inspires and creates! You could go home with a cherished keepsake.

Pet Parade 

Saturday, July 31, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, Sheldon Woods

Celebrate the end of our "Tails and Tales" summer with our festive pet parade! We will walk the Trail Tale at Sheldon Woods, reveal the winners of our pet contest, and throw in more fun along the way. Don't forget to dress your pet in their parade best. 

Pet Shower and Adoption

Saturday, July 31, 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Find your new four-legged best friend! Multiple Breed Rescue will bring adoptable pets to the Library for families to meet. Donations of pet training pads and unopened bags of treats are welcome.

Thursday, August 12, 6:30 - 7:30 pm

Explore titles from Own Voices authors. Our book for August is Starfish by Lisa Fipps. We're having a virtual author visit with Fipps.

Starlight Movie Theater

Friday, August 13, 7:00 pm at the Old Grafton School

Join us for a family-friendly community event. Starting at 7:00 pm, enjoy fun crafts, listen to a paranormal lecture from Ohio Researchers of Banded Spirits (ORBS), or tour the Old Grafton School. Once the sun goes down, enjoy a nostalgic film. If you want to know what movie we'll be showing, take part in our community-wide scavenger hunt. Animal Crossing clues at local business will reveal letters in the movie title. Find all the clues and unscramble the letters to discover the movie! We will provide snacks and bug spray. Please bring your own chairs and blankets.
