A lifelong love affair with nautical disasters, Brian Lumley has been a student of the RMS Titanic disaster since grade school. Over the decades, he's spoken with three of her survivors, visited most memorials within the United States, and studied dozens of books relating to her sinking and eventual re-discovery in 1985.

While there are countless aspects of the ship and disaster to study, he finds the small details and utter ridiculousness of the night of April 14th, 1912 to be more interesting than any fiction an author may create...and someone did indeed create one, in 1898, fourteen years prior to the Titanic's sinking.
